Accountant: Retail Supply Chain
We've got an exciting, brand new opportunity at Ackermans as a Accountant: Retail Supply Chain in our Finance Retail Accounting team.
The Retail Supply Chain Accountant is responsible for managing and overseeing the financial operations of the supply chain department. This includes monitoring and analyzing financial data, preparing financial report, and ensuring compliance with accounting principles and company policies. The accountant will work closely with cross-functional teams to optimize inventory management, streamline processes, and contribute to the overall success of the retail supply chain.
We're a fully in-office team. This role is based at our Support Centre in Kuils River, Cape Town.
QUALIFICATIONS required:
Essential:
B.Comm or equivalent financial qualification
Preferred:
Post-graduate qualification in Accounting, Finance or related field.
Professional certification (e.g., CPA, CMA)
KNOWLEDGE required:
Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial analysis and reporting.
Knowledge of the supply chain process.
Knowledge of the inventory management process
Knowledge of financial reporting
EXPERIENCE & SKILLS required:
Essential:
At least 3-5 years’ experience as an Accountant
Preferred:
Completed article traineeship
Experience within the retail and/or supply chain environment.
Experience in inventory management
SKILLS required:
Numerical and analytical skills
Proficiency in using accounting software and MS Office applications
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Detailed-oriented with a high level of accuracy in financial data management
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with cross functional teams.
KEY RESPONSIBILITES:
1) Supply Chain Reporting
1.1) Preparation of monthly management account as well as compiling the annual budget and 3-year plan.
Ensure that the monthly management reports, annual budgets and 3-year plan are all prepared.
Continuously assessing the supply chain business process to enhance and improve reporting efficiencies
Meeting monthly with the supply chain business partners to discuss and report on budget variances.
Manage and maintain accurate financial records for the retail supply chain departments
Monitor and analyse financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement.
Prepare and present financial reports, including budgeting, forecasting, and cost analysis.
2) Business partnering with Supply Chain
Upskilling business partners through training and the sharing of specialist knowledge
Provide support and assistance during the budget process.
Discuss monthly variance to budgets with senior management within Supply Chain
Keeping a clear line of communication between business partner and finance
A clear understanding of the impact of business needs on finance.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize inventory levels, minimize stockouts, and reduce carrying costs.
Ensure compliance with accounting principles, company policies, and regulatory requirements
Conduct regular audits to identify and resolve any discrepancies or issues in financial records.
Assist in the development and implementation of financial controls and procedures.
Provide financial guidance and support to the retail supply chain team, including cost analysis and budgeting.
Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and changes in accounting standards.
3) Stakeholder Management
Managing relationships and building good rapport with external service providers
Compiling financial models and presentations
Collaborate with vendors and suppliers to negotiate favourable terms and pricing.
